    Chronic intestinal distress
    Hi
I have been experiencing constipation for over 2 years now and only go to the toilet every 3 days. When I do go to the toilet I only do one stool and it is usually very thick. I cannot sit down for longer than half an hour without needing to pass gas and find it hard to sit down when doing exams. My stomach is bloated and I have pain just under my belly button in one spot. Just wonderng what it is and how to stop it .
    Thank you

To find out exactly what is going on you will need to visit your doctor for a proper diagnosis and treatment. In the meantime you can try to increase your fluid and fiber intake, include lots of fruits and vegetables. There are also stool softeners on the market that you can take such as MiraLax.

Of course, my first question is, have you seen a doctor about this?

My second question is, what do you eat? Do you have any kind of a balanced diet?

***ADDED*** J_9 beat me to it. She knows what she's talking about, so follow her suggestions.

Doctors hear this, and worse, every day of their practice. I have had to take my son to the doctor for the same reason.

Remember that this is a normal bodily function. As I nurse, I hear more embarrassing things all the time.

Hi, No I haven't seen a doctor for this. I don't eat a certain diet, I normally just eat what I want. I don't eat a lot of fruit but I do eat vegetables. I also hardly ever exercise.

Hi, I have also just noticed mucus like stringy things attached and covering to my stool. And I cannot go to the toilet even more now. Wondering if this is part of my above symptom or if it is something else.
    Thank you

Regarding a constriction in the intestines, I've heard of something called Shlotsky's Ring BUT I'm sure I'm spelling it incorrectly. Cannot find it anywhere under that spelling. If I Google it, all I get is a Jewish Deli. Does this "Sholtsky's Ring", ring a bell with anyone? Thanks
