Bread disagreement
I have recently noticed that whenever I eat bread about 30mins after I feel terribly bloated and my stomach actually swells out and does not stop gurgling anf rumbling and I get awful wind as well. Is this something I should be looking into further? Or need to be worried about? Could I be allergic to bread or possibly be a celiac?

It is possible that your allergic. Have you always had these symptoms or have they just appeared recently?
If just recently then maybe you should ask your doctor about it. What you should do is go to your health food store, and get a bread that is glutton free, and see what happens. If nothing happens then you know it is an allergy.

The first thing you should do is contact a doctor and have some blood work done, checking the blood for higher than normal levels of autoantibodies is one way, your Doctor will administer the necessary test to give you the proper results. This is very important because Celiac Disease is a digestive disease that damages the small intestine and interferes with absorption of nutrients from food. You can't tolerate gluten a protein found in wheat, rye and barley. Symptoms from one person to another vary, gas, bloating, pain, dirrhea are just a few yet some people have none. The only treatment is to follow a gluten free diet. You should not eat grain, pasta, cereal and many processed foods. But you can eat potatoes, rice, soy, bean and buckwheat flour. There are gluten free pastas and other products sold at speciality and organic markets. Plain meat, fish, rice , fruits and veggies are good choices. But see a doctor as soon as possible! ;)

OK thank you both for your help, really appreciated, I tried to talk to my mum about it, as celiac is in the family, I don't think she really took me seriously, as I have always been prone to a rumbly tummy, but lately I have connected it to bread products and I think I will mention it to my parents again and make a trip to the doctors, even if its nothing to worry about its worth checking it out, as I have many of the symptoms, I think its been going on for a while, as I have always felt uncomfortable after my dinner for a long long time, but only recently has it really been very painful and on my mind! But thanks again for the advice!

I would say you should go talk to your doctor no matter what. Whether your parents take you seriously or not.

I hope you do get tested for Celiac Disease. My youngest son has it and while it was a challenge at first to cook, I simply switched all of us over to gluten-free. It is not just bread but you think of pasta and you start reading labels. Wheat and wheat based products are in many many products, especially in modified food starch. A very common ingredient, even in puddings. You have to make sure the food starch is corn based. Many grocery stores are now carrying gluten free products, but it is still a matter of understanding food labels.
If Celiac Disease runs in your family, it might not hurt to get others tested. Not everyone has the same symptoms. Best of all to you and your family.

Thanks for your help, yes I am aware wheat is in an awful lot of foods, we discovered when my nana found ou she had celiac. I have spoken more to my mum and she actually understands more about how I feel now, today I have not eaten bread and I have no felt at all bloated. However my mum has told me that the doctors do not do tests for celiac disease and that you have to visit a local health store which costs between £40-60, do you know if this is true?

You live in the UK? I do not know then. Here, in the United States, the doctor requires the blood work to be done, which is usually sent to a special laboratory ( for where I live, in North Dakota, that lab is in Salt Lake City, Utah).
The diagnosis can be confirmed also by biopsy, which involves getting an Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) done. The EGD is an examination of the lining of the esophagus, stomach, and upper duodenum with a small camera (flexible endoscope) which is inserted down the throat. You are asleep when that happens.
I wish I could answer you for the procedures where you live. But your Mom should know. There are some good websites to get you started reading:
