Diverter
I'm having shower problems and home depot said to bring in my diverter so they could tell me what I need, but I have no idea what a diverter is.

The diverter is the part that diverts the water from the faucet that fills the tub up to the shower. Once you have it apart, try chipping the mineral deposits out and a little CLR or other lime dissolver. You may not need to buy a new one.

Diverter problem
Hi Shannon.
A diverter is the gismo that you push , pull or turn when you wish to shower or fill a tub.
You can find them in three places.
(1) A center knob between the hot and cold knobs.
(2) A rod that pushes in or pulls out located just below the handle in a chrome face plate.
(3) On the tub spout itself.
You're going to need some help in getting the diverter removed so I need to know what type you have.
If it's one or two I'll need the brand name of the valve and its age. The tub spout diverters are all pretty much the same. Regards, Tom

Diverter not working
I have just replaced a Price-Pfister shower diverter and seat. I removed the old diverter and used a seat tool to remove the old seat.
I cleaned trash from the area around the seat, replaced the seat with the new one from the diverter stem kit, and installed a new diverter. When I turn the diverter counter-clockwise the water still comes out the spout. I pull the knob on the spout and the water comes out of the shower.
If I turn the diverter clockwise, the water stops coming out of the shower.
I put teflon tape on all of the threads, and vaseline on the internal threads of the diverter .
What could keep the diverter from transferring the water from the spout to the shower as it should?

Hi David,
Great information in your complaint, however you haven't told us what model faucet you have. One handle, three knobs or a diverter on the tub spout.
So that we can pull a diagram could you be a little more specific and give us more details? Thanks, Tom
