    Ask a honda mechanic
2000 CRV, driver side door lock actuator has failed. Door is shut and will not open. I have pulled back the door panel enough to see the actuator. How can I get the door open to replace the actuator?

    Thanks
    John

Looks like you have a verticle linkage that attaches to the mechanism to unlock, maybe 6 to 8 inches below the window, about directly below the outside keylock, if the linkage came disconnected because of the broken piece of plastic,(it is cheap and easy to replace), then you will need to rotate it or lift where it was disconnected.

Can you tell a little more.
You cannot unlock from the inside AND outside key lock?
You need to be able to reach in and manually unlock as I mentioned earlier.
    Was this Electric solenoid only?
What happens when you try the inside and outside lock(Jammed, No movement, very free movement)?

Yes, I cannot unlock inside and outside with key, and the electric switch inside, and manually pulling on lock inside.
I can enter the car vain the other 3 doors which still respond to key and electric switch.
Yes, I believe the solenoid is electric only.
When I turn the outside lock the with the key to the left it moves about a quarter turn, as it should and the doors all lock as they should (I can hear the electric hum). When I turn the key to the right, I hear the hum but the door does not unlock. It moves some but it is hard to tell if the key is turning to the right as much as it used to.
When I try the inside electric switch or knob the other doors respond (lock or unlock) but not the drivers. I hear a short electric hum after operating the switch.

You may need to remove opposite door panel and watch as you lock/unlock the door and when you pull on the inside and outside door handle.
The old days they would let you crawl around the local junkyards, you could look at one with the panel already removed?
    Good Luck.
