How do I handle a Hotel pet damage claim
A hotel I recently stayed at with my pet has charged my credit card 150 dollars for pet damage. I have a well traveled 80 pound dog who has stayed in many hotels prior without any incidents. I was not contacted in any way and learned of the charge when I checked my statement. When I asked the hotel for proof of the damage I was emailed 2 photos that did not identify the room or have any date/time stamps on the photo itself and did not show any damage caused by a large dog.

Did you dispute this with the credit card company?

On MY last vacation I was charged $100 for cleaning the motel room, removing traces of cigarette smoke.

We don't smoke. It wasn't us. The credit card company removed the charge.

I have contacted the hotel-no resolution, and my card company- waiting to hear back from.

I'd go with the credit card company. The hotel has already been paid for its "damage." They aren't going to change anything.

Is that the culprit under your user name? Beautiful dog! What did he supposedly do?

I hate traveling with my dogs because they are well behaved but I always get a crappy room just in case.

Yes, that is Grubbs-he supposedly urinated all over the room making it unusable for 4 days(according to the hotel manager)

He and his brother Yanda compete in Dock Dogs. We have competed in many states from Vermont to Wisconsin and all over the mid atlantic states

I'm impressed - I've seen the sport on TV.

That must have been a lot of urine if no one could use the room for 4 days. Better he should have smoked (like we did) - in that case it was unusable for 1 day.

You have to make a written dispute with the credit card company on the charge. ( not just call them)
