Cost to paint interior 20X10 plus ceilings. Cover a dark color with a lighter color.
A fairly dark blue to be covered with a lighter honey yellow. 200 sq ft. plus the ceilings. A primer coat plus 2 paint coats I would think would cover. How much should this job cost if the paint cost is $100.00?

A 10 x 20 room with 8 foot walls would be 480 square feet plus 200 square feet for ceiling.

Labor cost vary from area to area. It depends on how much u want to pay or be paid. It also has to do with how much patching has to be done.

If u are doing job would have primer tinted the same color as finish paint. It will make covering easier.

If u are having work done, get estimates from at lest 3 contractors. Be sure all work to be done is listed and contractor is insured.

I understand what you are saying, but surely SOME idea regarding cost is possible, no matter where you are. For instance, this can be very answered in another way: In terms of man hours. I estimated that one coat of primer will be necessary, and at least two coats of the interior latex... Ben Moore. No mention of skim coats given, so let's not read anything into this. I would estimate a one coat prime and one coat latex can be done by 1 man, one day. The 2nd coat latex would have to be done the next day... dry time must be taken into account here.

Given the information above, along with the paint at $100.00 I would put the labor at $500.00. In any ballpark, I would think that this is a reasonable estimate. What does anyone out there think? Hand painting is what's being done here... you know, rollers and paint brushes.

Thanks in advance for any insight you can provide.

Using your time estimate of 2 days @ 8 hrs a day, would give u $31.25 per hour. If time line is shorter, the price per hour would raise quite a bit. There are painters that will work for less.

U will pay more for painter in New York City then in the far suburbs.
