What will happen if I get court summons for not paying
I have been summoned for not paying the rent. What should I do now. Can I pay the rent directly to the landlord or wait for the court? I will be leaving the place before the court hearing is due. I am Michigan resident and I don't have SSN on file.

You have to appear in court, you have been summoned to settle the claim there. You will be asked for your SSN and if you can't produce it, there will be questions, probably why you don't want to go.

    This is an eviction case?
If you are going to be out of the premises prior to the eviction hearing, that will take care of the need to get an eviction order, won't it? The landlord is also suing you for past due rent. Pay the rent directly to the landlord, although the LL might think he/she can't accept it without adversely impacting the court case. That is their problem.

And if you have moved out, as well as paying the rent, the only reason to attend the court hearing is to make sure that you aren't adjudged liable for excessive court costs, etc. You do know that if you don't show up, the only bad thing that can happen is that you can be defaulted, and a judgment entered for the relief requested in the complaint, right? In other words, the judge won't care, and you won't be arrested or anything like that.

What do you mean you don't have a Social Security number "on file"? On file where? Do you have a SS#? Are you legally in the U.S.

Very well. You answered your own question. If you don't need a SS#, they can't make you supply one.
