Drain pipe leaking through basement wall.
The drain pipe leading from my kitchen sink goes through the floor into the basement, then turns ninety degrees to penetrate the concrete basement wall on its way out. There is a roughly vertical full-height crack (~1/4") leading from the corner of the basement window above the pipe, through the point where the pipe penetrates the wall, and terminating at the slab. This crack has admitted water in the past, typically at the slab and probably following heavy rains. However, recently I noticed that it seems to be admitting a small but steady stream of water where the drain pipe penetrates the wall (at the top of the pipe, actually) after running the kitchen sink. We don't have a dishwasher so we run a lot of water when we wash dishes. The water that is being admitted is pretty foul-smelling. My suspicion is that the drain pipe has corroded and / or broken just outside of the basement wall. It's only about two feet below grade so I'm considering digging down (after calling JULIE) to confirm that suspicion, but I'm not sure how much I'll be able to do to actually fix it if I'm right. Suggestions?
