Free birch tree help
We have one lone mature (30 yr) birch tree on our front lawn. In the past few years a greenish black lichen has been growing on it. We have had very wet summers of late. The other point, is that it is located near an no longer used septic sewer system.
What do you think is the cause and what can I do about it? I wanted to post a picture but that is not possible here. |

I have a very full birch in my frond yard. I had some other (oaks) topped but they said I shouldn't top the birch because It will kill it. I also asked about trimming the birch and they suggested leaving it alone or cutting it down commpletely.
