Main reason I ask is because for every single one of my close female friends, at some point I have felt a sexual urge toward them. These feelings have never lasted long term, its just sporadic moments when they do something cute or they look a certain way and I get this urge... I never actually act on them however since I am still in love with my ex girlfriend. Yet I still wonder if it's normal for me to experience sexual urges toward girls that I consider as "just friends". I'm 17 by the way.

And on the flip side of the coin, do girls fare better than guys with this? My experience tells me that generally guys feel sexual tension toward female friends way more than girls to guys. Girls are just better at putting guys in the "friend" group or the "dating" group in my opinion. Is this true?

Guys are guys. Most guys will get excited if the wind hits them the right way. For a guy all females are potential sex partners. One guy friend once told me that there's no such thing as a true platonic friendship with a guy and a girl, because the guy always thinks about sex with any female he knows, whereas the girl actually sees the guy as a friend.

In other words, yes, it's normal, for a guy. Especially a teen guy. You haven't learned to control these sexual urges yet. At least you're not acting on them. But lets face it, show some skin, bat your eyes, a little flirt, and you want to get into her pants. It's a guy thing.

Do girls fare better? Sex is different for girls. We may find a guy cute, or sexy, but when it comes to our friends, strictly friends, that's what they are, just friends. We may find you cute, but we don't usually want to get you into bed just because you winked at us or flashed a little skin.

For girls sex is emotional. For guys it's physical.
