Switching Ceiling Fan Light Kit - Need More Light!
We have a Hampton Bay ceiling fan with lights, but the lights are such low wattage that they hardly do anything from our 18' ceiling. We want to add a drop pole and change the light out for one with brighter bulbs.

Q1. Can any drop pole be used, or are they brand specific?

Q2. Can we purchase and install a light kit that uses higher wattage bulbs without damaging our fan - is the fan only "wired" for use with the lower wattage lights?

Q3. Will any brand light kit work with our fan, or are they also brand specific?

Please help! So tired of sitting in the dark!

Q1. Most are 3/4 IP thread, some older hunters are different. You will need a wire extension kit.
    Q2. With a new kit, you can run, most likely, 240 watts, 4 X 60 W
Q3. Depends on the fitting, I have adapted many and also used OEM. Unfortunately, you will have to take the light off to see what matches up. Lowe's has a good aftermarket selection of light bases and fitters.
