Boyfriend adopting my child without being married, and giving up mother rights in KY?
Me and my boyfriend been together for three years. I had a baby in which we found out through paternity testing the baby was not his. My son is now 2 years old and only knows him as the father. The biological father is unknown because I was raped.

My boyfriend wants to remain in my son's life as the legal father. We have called several lawyer to get the adoption process started, but the lawyer says it can't be done. I need help! I live in the state of Kentucky, and I want to know is there anyway we can make this happen without us getting married.

No, if you are not committed enough to each other to make your relationship legal, the Court is not going to think you are committed enough to raise a child.

    The Lawyer was right.

    No.

Why would any court allow you to make a commitment to someone for your CHILD, when you are not willing to make that legal commitment yourself?

First why does the mother want to get rid of the child ? Who is going to adopt the child ? Another women.

If you merely want a new boyfriend to adopt and take over the rights of the father, the mother does not do anything. The bio father has to give up his rights.

Was there a police report of the rape? As long as you have that, you should be able to get past needing the bio father's permission.

Why are the lawyers telling you it can't be done? Is it because you are not married? If that is the law (and it is in most places) then why do you think you would be able to get past the law?
