    Home Networking
I've just set up a wireless network, but when I try access the desktop computer from my laptop, I get a message: Office computer in not accessible the network path could not be found. What could the problem be, as I've tried several things and none have worked?

    Hello,

You should know it is allways helpful to include the Operating Systems, Network Card names and if you set the IP Addresses or if you get them via DHCP. Assuming that you run on both systems Windows XP try the following:
Open on both Systems the command prompt (Start --> Run --> "cmd" enter)
Then type "ipconfig" and hit enter
You should see the IP Address of the system, normally with home/SOHO Equip if you get the IP over DHCP it should look something like this 192.168.*.* both IP Addresses have to be in the same range. Example: Desktop: 192.168.0.2 Laptop:192.168.0.3, If exists Router:192.168.0.1
If those Settings are correct try to do a ping from the laptop type "ping *Desktop IP*
If you cannot get a response from the Desktop check on the Desktop the firewall settings, go into network connections and look at the properties from the "Local Area Connection", click the "Advanced tab" and under Firewall turn it off for now and give it another try.

That's all I can think of right now. If it doesn't work reply with more information.
Specialy the OS should you run on one system xp and on the other 98 then that causes slightly different problems.

    Hope that helps
    Chris
