    Water flow stops then starts again
    I have a submersible pump, pressurized tank. Control set at 30/50. Entire system is 14 years old with no prior problems or maintenance.

    Occasionally when I am in the shower the water flow will drop to a trickle or stop entirely. Of course this happens when I'm all soaped up trying to rinse. If I cut off the spigot then turn it back on immediately I get a great flow of water. Even if I don't have this problem, I do notice a swing in pressure while I am in the shower. It usually starts lower then increases significantly when the pump kicks in.

    I have not had this problem at other fixtures inside, but did experience the same problem at an outside spigot.

    I know we that I have hard water. I'm thinking maybe the pressure switch is bad.

    I'm currently unemployed and reasonably handy - would like to avoid buying unnecessary parts or calling a pro.

    What I'd be looking at first is the control box. First unhook the small tube coming from the pump to the control box ton see it it might have some debris in it. Next I would have someone run the shower wile you check the pressure gage. If the gage falls below 30 PSI and the contacts don't close then the control box isn't doing its job. Good luck, Tom
