Hello. I'm 39, no children, no miscarriages or abortions. I've been having midcycle spotting on and off for a few months now, always between day 11-16 of my cycle. Sometimes a few drops, sometimes more, sometimes nothing at all. I always had a regular cycle, but in my 20s I dealt with very heavy flow, debilitating pain and clotting. In my late 20s/early 30s my body calmed and my periods were very manageable, but I would experience another heavy flow and cramps when I was very stressed. Two years ago, I lost my job and have been freelancing ever since; I've been having more frequent heavy periods since then, plenty of clotting, and some irregularity, including spotting. I'm having terrible insomnia the week before my periods, sometimes with heart palpitations. When I'm going to have a heavy flow, my period comes about 3 days early. Spotting seems most likely to happen after a bad period. I've been taking spironolactone in various doses for about 6 years for cystic acne caused by a hormone imbalance. Mom had endometriosis and Graves' Disease, neither of which I have, to my knowledge (my sister does have endo). My energy levels are good. Haven't had intercourse in years, few partners in the past, no abnormal paps as yet. Have had two breast biopsies (mom died of breast cancer); they do think that the spiro caused a benign tumor to expand. I have gone to an acupuncturist this year, which has helped my symptoms, but I can't go regularly as my individual health plan doesn't cover it. Looking for some peace of mind here.
