    Legal options for someone who gave up their parental rights but wants them back
    If a father signs over his parental rights to because he was unable to financially take care of his son, but now wants his son back what is his options? Is this even a possibility?

    Hello M:

    You'll have to tell us exactly HOW you gave up your rights. MOST courts in this country WON'T let you do that.. So, I have a hunch that you really DIDN'T give up your rights. You just signed a document saying that you would and your ex hasn't hounded you for child support...

    So, HELP me HELP you.

    Since it is almost impossible to "sign" over your rights except to allow someone else to adopt the child, excon is correct we need to know what happened. Normally the other parent merely gets custody and the father would have visitation rights.
