    A thermocouple is a device made of dissimilar metals that generate a current when heated. They are most commonly found in gas control safety devices and allow the gas valve to stay open. If the pilot goes out,the gas valve will shut. They are Aldo used in temperature measurement devices.

    It opens the gas valve just enough to allow gas to feed the pilot light
