How do I keep my 2 yr old from pushing her bed in front of the bedroom door?
My daughter likes to play for a little bit in her room before and after nap time, which is fine except for the part where she will push her bed in front of her bedroom door. Since it is a toddler bed it isn't very heavy, so I have no trouble forcing the door open when she does this, but I can't get her to stop doing it.

Keep the door open and secure it when open?

Secure the bed somehow so she can't move it?

Unfortunately I have to find a way to stop the behavior, we rent and can not put any screws in the house at all to secure her furniture.

Buy four of those rubber cushions to put under the bed's legs. She won't be able to move the bed. Or is the mattress flat on the floor?

It is a disney princess toddler bed that is mostly plastic except for the hollow tubing they used for the frame, the whole thing weighs 5-10 pounds, with the mattress on it.

Go to Target or Walmart or Walgreen's and look for a gripper that says it will prevent movement on carpet. You want to create a huge resistance.

Strap a concrete block to one leg with some zip ties?

Give her time out, take away a favorite toy every time she does it.

I thought of that, but at her age, would she "get it" and understand the connection? Maybe put a cow bell on the bed or an alarm of some kind? I'm wondering why she shoves the bed in front of the door. Maybe put something in her way?

My toddler son used to put his BODY across the doorway so we couldn't get in.

I really can't put anything in the way. I keep her dresser in her closet where she can't get to it, and pull it over on herself, and her toy box is on wheels. The only real option I have is to break the behavior, and nothing is working.

I'd do something with the ends of bed legs so they won't scoot along on the carpet, so she can't move the bed. Certainly you can try a couple of things to accomplish that. As far as breaking her behavior, I'm guessing before long she will be doing something else that drives you crazy and won't do this any longer. And if she can move the bed, isn't it easy enough for you to push in the door and move the bed so you can get into the room?

Does she like her princess bed?

I would take it away. And put the mattress on the floor. And tell her she must earn her bed frame back by NOT moving the mattress.

Take the door off the hinges... no screws in the apartment walls and no way for her to block the door. My boys used to lock their bedroom door on the inside and pull it shut in hopes of them not being able to get in for bedtime, so I took their door, hence no more door locking. Hope this helps :)
