    gaming computer security
I run daily virus scan using Kapersky, update all programs as needed and run spybot (when I think of it).
My computer is running very slow and nothing is being picked up by the programs. One very good example is when I type there is a daily of 5=10 seconds before it comes on screen. I also have to refresh pages frequently as I lose access to them. I still have internet it is something on my computer. I do play online games (World of Warcraft) and do know keyloggers can be easily picked up.
Should I be using different programs? What can be suggested? My computer is less than a year old and is Alienware. If you need specs I can post them.
If you need something technical beyond specs please post detailed instructions as I am only have an average knowledge about computers.
    Thank you

While you system may be clean of malware, etc, it could simply be bogged down with extraneous crud.
Grab a copy of ccleaner and find out how much you have running at start up and give the system a dust blow out..
CCleaner is available, free, here: Click Me
Also try running malwarebyte instead of spybot as it is better supported, available, again free, here: Click Me As Well.

Thank you. I have downloaded the first one and ran it. I have more questions about that one before I go onto the second one you recommended.
If I go into the Tools tab and then click start up it lists programs for Windows , Internet Explorer and Scheduled Tasks. I should say I only use Firefox. How do I learn what is programs to keep and what is programs to get rid of? I am not comfortable messing with them without knowing if they are needed or not for start up.

Feel free to post some screen shots and we'll go from there, but sufficed to say all you really need at startup is a minimal list of things, including Anti-virus, and some drivers.
Have you run both the disc cleaner and registry one ?

Hope this is what you meant. I saved it as a text file for each of the options: Windows, Internet Explorer, and Scheduled tasks. I have run the cleaner and the registry cleaner options.

Here's a quick and dirty on the startup items.
I'd go for a disable rather than delete then you can always turn them back on.

Lots of things that aren't really needed.

Wow, I agree with Ben. It seems clutter is your worst enemy. Most of what your turning "on" is also reporting back and that can make the best of systems crawl. Also for your browsers you need to disable most of the "junk" you may have in them such as uneeded add ons. Your pushing your system when you turn everything on rather then turning on only when needed.

Thank you I have noticed a big difference. I have run both programs and things are much better.
