    I'm with J1 VISA.
    Hello,
    I moved to the US about 2 months ago (2012) and I'm with J1 VISA.
    I'm planning to buy house soon and I'd like to know:
    1) if I can deduct the motgage interest from the tax
    2) if I can apply for exemption on property tax

    No to both questions.

    Non-resident aliens CANNOT deduct either mortgage interest or property taxes on their Form 1040NR tax return.
