Bypass remote control for Sears ceiling fan 689.116700
How do I bypass remote control for sears ceiling fan 689.116700? I want to control the fan manually by using a control on the wall instead. Thanks in advance.

OK so there is already a switch on the wall, does the wall switch have to be ON to get the remote to work, can the wall switch kill all power stopping the remote from working?

I haven't wired in a control switch on the wall yet. I'm handy with electrical wiring for the home but the issue is with the wires coming out of the receiver in the fan. The old fan stopped working and I have a replacement fan that is remote controlled. I don't know which wires to twist together in order to bypass the receiver.

If you have not installed the fan yet I can help you wire it with no remote at all but maybe you will want a remote some day, you think? We should be able to install it with no remote or just a by-pass, you pick. What wires come out of the ceiling, is there a light kit?

It does a have a light kit. Standard wires come out of the ceiling, the neutral, hot and ground. I want to install a control on the wall for the fan. You just made me think of controlling the lights. I'd have to run another wire for the lights to keep from dimming them. I don't want to run any more wires either. It seems the either I have run another set of wires to keep the lights fixed or have to use a remote control to deal with the dimming of the lights and fan speed. The other option I guess would be is to fix the fan speed at medium for example and then I could have the lights fixed at standard brightness. I will have to figure out what I want to do first.

The 3 wires you have would be perfect if there was no light kit. I think the best thing to do here since you don't want to run more wires is to install the remote and use the switch as a "master kill switch" so I think you idea "fan speed at medium for example and then I could have the lights fixed at standard brightness" is best. You use the switch when entering or leaving the room and the lights and fan will away turn ON or OFF. Use the remote to only adjust the levels. Do you already know how to install with the remote or would you like to walk through that installation?
