    Feline Weight Loss
    My cat is 6 years old and recently began losing weight. She does not have any other symptoms of being ill, other than the weight loss. She is an indoor cat, does not get any particular exercise and nothing has changed with her life style. Can you help me understand what may be the cause?

    I think its best you take her to the kitty doctor for a check-up!

    I agree with the vet checkup, but also there's two web sites you should check out;
    Www8.nationalacademies.org
    Hht://national-academies.org/petdoor. This one gives you a lot of nutritional guidelines, it's worth reading!;)

    I agree with both posters above.

    Please bring your cat to the vet and have her combo tested. If you don't know what that is, the vet will and can explain it further. He/she needs to examine your cat thoroughly and rule out any causes for this sudden weight loss before he/she makes suggestions as to what the next step should be, such as change in diet, exercise,.

    I agree this can be serious - please get your cat to the vet. This happened to my cat, he lost weight very quickly. He didn't seem to fit the typical profile of a feline with hypertension but he had it! Medicated and 3 years later the old boy is doing very well.

    Very good post dollyspin. I am happy to hear that your cat is doing fine.

    The other possibility is diabetes. But, it is so easy to make suggestions or guesses here online. The fact is, securitygal, we cannot examine your cat and run tests here in cyberspace. Please follow everyone's advice to bring her in to the vet as soon as possible. We want your kitty to be happy and healthy for a long time to come.
