    How do I prevent sludge from coming up my basement drains when it rains heavily?

    Are your drains connected to your sewer or to a sump pump pit?

    If your down spouts are connected to the sewer you're overloading the system. I would reroute the rain water out on the lawn or to a dry well, (see image). Good luck, Tom
