I am renting a pre-1900 house and have discovered that the hot water only lasts for about 9 minutes in my shower, but it lasts over 22 minutes in the kitchen. Why could this be? I have had a new water heater put in, as well as a new water pressure valve (the water pressure was extremely high). This was before we figured out that the problem really seems to be specific to the shower/bath. The water pressure is fine, just no hot water at all after 9 minutes. The former tenants who moved out about 6 months ago said they never had any problem with the hot water.

The 9 min ticker doesn't make sense... I could b that the water is mixing via another faucet in the house and causing u to lose hot water in the shower... the only way that can happen is if any of the other faucets are a single handle. The cartridge Could be bad in any single handle faucet and Cause this problem. Doesn't make sense about it taking 9 min though

What size water heater? Gas or electric? Of course your shower will run out of hot water quicker than the sink, as the shower allowes more volume of water in a shorter period. Lots of things to consider here. Let us know a bit more and we will try our best to help you out.

Maybe the old tenants only took 8 minute showers, did you ask? OK, now for real. It is likely that the house was initially piped with larger than needed pipes and the line did not tsep down to 1/2" or 3/4" just prior to the shower head. Try a low usage shower head, one that restricts the volume but not the pressure of the water. Your kitchen faucet does not allow the same high volume of an old shower head, that's why the kitchen hangs in there longer

Let's get to the source of the problem. Answer Lees questions. What size water heater? Gas or electric? What type of shower valve. Temp and skald control? Regular? What's been done so far to correct the situation? Back to you, Tom

I really appreciate your interest in helping me and am sorry I can't keep up the momentum.
