    Inheritance bank levy
I expect to receive a modest inheritance (around $10,000) in a month or so. I currently have no bank accounts. I have credit card debt in the amount of $6,000 and defaulted student loans (about $16,000). If I open a bank account with my inheritance, will these creditors attempt to garnish or levy the money?

What alternatives do I have to getting this money (i.e. Cashing the inheritance check)without using a bank?
