    Shih tzu poos at night?
I have a shih tzu one and half year old who poos at night, I walk her 2twice a day, I don't feed her after 6pm and I let her out in the garden before I go to bed, I tried putting her in her cage at night but she just poos in her bed and howls and cries so now she sleeps in the kitchen with my other dog. She doesn't do anything through the day when I am at work. I am desperate for help as I have 2 small children and considering putting her in a rescue centre

Have you considered walking her before bed, instead of just letting her out in the garden?

2 times a day isn't really enough you say you have tried putting her in a cage at night if she hasn't been trained she is going to think this is punishment or she could be scared please don't give up on her thought I would consider trying some training sites and reading some books on shi tzu behaviour

Make the dog feel safe if she's nervous or hears something shell bark but if you talk in a low voice at night she be calm also try a shirt or something to wrap her in so she feels secure

I would go with Lady Sam's suggestion. Sometimes a late night walk will stimulate the bowels and create the urge to go. Even one small piece of kibble can put pressure o her bowels. Make sure you are using a good enzyme cleaner when cleaning up the mess, this will get rid of the odor which may stop the urge to re-mark.

After thought-- When was the last time she has been to the vet for a once over? If this is something that justs tarted happening it could be medical. Is she up to date with worm medications?

    Hello b:

So, what did you expect from a breed named Shih tzu?

Sorry. I just thought I'd throw that in. I'll go away now.

Bella, although I'd love to take the credit, that was Sariss' suggestion. And a good one I might add.
