    Kitchen Sink Won't Drain
Throw a grenade down it!! That's how I feel with my kitchen sink. Another slab house as well built in 1973. Cast Iron Pipes in the slab. The person who had the house before me must have had a clog in the sink line leading to the septic, instead of clearing the line. He decided to dig a square hole outside and stick a 15 gallon plastic storage container with holes into it and run the kitchen sink line out to it. Now the cast iron pipe has sat for three years and I am not sure it can be un-clogged. In addition the box outside will fill up because the food particles clog the holes in the bottom and prevent drainage, add a little rain into the mix an viola... nasty sewer smell backed up through the sink. Add to that yours truly having to go outside with a bucket and a dip cup to dig the water and sewer mix out of the bucket in order for it to work again. I have thought about installing a smaller septic outside, however I am sure the cost may out weigh the value in this money pit. I feel your pain and if you have any suggestions I would be all ears!

Hi Sinkers and Welcome to The Plumbing Page. At AskMeHelpDesk.com. You're responding to a 7 year old dead thread so I gave you one of your own. Look in then upper left hand corner of the first post form the date before you post, Thanks,
If you're on a septic system here's the way your kitchen and laundry should be installed. First the kitchen and washer drains should be combined and run to a grease trap, (see image) and then to the septic tank.
If you connect direct to the tank without the grease trap lint and food particles will clog up your drain field causing it to be moved at great expense. Good luck, Tom
