    Rib hurts when breathing
    Today at school I was on a very large exercise ball and I fell off twice within 5 minutes of each other. When I got up my left rib hurt. It wasn't that bad until I was in the car driving home and on a scale of 1-10 it's a 5.5-6. I put a heating pad on it but it didn't really help the only thing that helped was the tightness of the heating pad when I put it on. So what's wrong with it? I don't think it's broken it I can barely lay on my right side because it hurts so much. Every couple of minutes I'll get a sharp pain in my spine/ back ribs. I don't think its broken but it REALLY hurts and I need to know what to do.

    It could be broken, bruised, or a pulled muscle. The only way for you to know is to go and get it checked. I've had broken ribs before and breathing difficulty is one of the symptoms.

    Of course on the first day, you should put ice not heat, It can be a bruise, it could be a fracture, Only x-ray will show for sure.
