Would help if you could tell what country this is in, and if the US what state? But in general if you can not pay for an attorney you will have to get the court to appoint one, a Public Defender,

At this point he will stay in jail on the violation of probation, and most likely stay till the trial on the sale of drugs. And it will depend on the level of evidence, The chain of evidence, the lab test on the drugs and so many factors that has to be reviewed for any error.

Would he be willing to tell the DA where he got the drugs, perhaps help catch a higher up drug dealer for a plea deal?

What State? It varies a little bit.

The Court knows who was assigned and your husband SHOULD have been given the Attorney's (Public Defender's) card. He/she may or may not be willing to talk to you. He/she represents your husband, not you, and some are more willing to cooperate than others.

In my area the Public Defender's Office will not give out any info (if you would call) to anyone BUT the person they represent.

I answered your other question and then found this one - I have asked that your questions be combined so they will be easier to answer.

I have seen public defenders who are great Attorneys, savy, experienced, familiar with the system, great reputations - and I have seen public defenders who are mediocre. Same as any profession. Some are good, some are bad, some are in between.

I always think a private attorney is more focused and doesn't have as large a case load, can pick clients. That does not mean I think a private attorney is a necessity.

I realize you are not a US citizen and were considering divorce - https://www.askmehelpdesk.com/family...ml#post1839294

Are you concerned about his criminal charge and your visa status? If so I would DEFINITELY get a private attorney.
