    Help with landlord problems?
I reported a leaking ceiling in writing on Jan 18. The apartment manager told me my letter was meaningliness. It's not:
NRS 118A.290 Habitability of dwelling unit.

    1. The landlord shall at all times during the tenancy maintain the dwelling unit in a habitable condition...
118A.290 (b) Plumbing facilities which conformed to applicable law when installed and which are maintained in good working order

    Also

NRS 118A.200 Rental agreements: Signing; copies; required provisions; disputable presumptions; use of nonconforming agreement unlawful.
    3. Any written rental agreement must contain, but is not limited to, provisions relating to the following subjects:
    (k) A signed record of the inventory and condition of the premises under the exclusive custody and control of the tenant.

They do not have (k) above. Cann't I just move and leave them without any recource since the rental agreement is not valid? Legas Nevada

I can understand the apartment manager, because your post here is meaningless.

All you needed to do was give the apartment manager a written note:

I am reporting a leak in the ceiling of my apartment unit <insert unit #>, as of <insert date>. Please have this repaired immediately.

Without know what you did write I don't know why the apartment manager said that, but I can understand it based on what you posted here.

So the question now is what did they do about it? Has it been leaking for almost a month? Have you done any follow-up? Lets keep it simple and stick to facts, don't start throwing in statutory cites at this point. However, if you want to cite the applicable law then ANY question on law needs to include your general locale as laws vary by area.
