    Claiming my child on my taxes
    Does my child have to be at least six months in order for me to claim her on my taxes?

    You must have provided a home for the child for at least six months and one day.

    No you could have given birth on Dec 31, as long as it's sometime in the previous year, you can claim them on your taxes for the following year.
