There is no such thing as a "part time" degree,
There are degrees that you may go to school part time. In fact most degrees allow you to go part time. What type of things interest you? What do you call a good job? A job that pays high but you hate going to work is it really a good job ? |

Well yes exactly, I have been working at mind numbingly boring jobs for years, living week to week, being very interested and passionate about some of the companies but not getting a look in because I don't have the Certs that allow me to bring idea's to the table, I understand that a part time degree is as much or more work than full time, and I am willing to pit the work in, my question was this, what sort of degree's are sought after or in demand at the moment , because I wouldn't want it to be a waste and yes of course I would like to highly paid, I have a baby boy, so a comfortable lifestyle would be nice.

The bigger question is what are your skills and interests? Going after a degree in IT, for example, would be a waste if you have no aptitude for it.
I'm sure Ireland has agencies that can tell you what is in demand locally and also help you determine what would be the best career for you. |

Agree, if you hate sitting at a desk all day, and don't like numbers, being an accountant or a computer programmer most likely is not for you.
If the site of blood or sick people bother you learning to be a nurse may not be for you. Also while we need enough to live ( but need to learn to live within our means) large income jobs are often not what people think. You have a child, so do you want to have to work 10 to 12 hours a day, being on call all weekends ? Then many high level management jobs is not for you. As a manager in the past I was getting calls by 6am every morning on my cell, Worked about 60 to 70 hours a week. And missed most of my children's growing up. We lived in a big house, but I seldom say it. For any "advancement" in a career there are trade offs in life, and it all depends on what you are willing to give up to get there. |
