    Ask a TV expert?
    Hi

I have a 42" Samsung plasma TV. At switch on it always came on with the previously viewed channel. Now it always shows Ext 1.

    Please help.

    Many thanks

I assume you have it working with a different input selected before you turn it off? Is that correct, yet it flips over to EXT input when you turn it off.

Make sure your digital set-top box is turned on first.

    Hi

    Thanks for your answers.

The TV is a digital one so no set-top box needed nor used.

If I switch off whilst watching channel 80 and all other devices, such as Pace satellite receiver, switched off, then at next switch on, the Samsung TV shows Ext 1, whereas it should come on showing channel 80.

    Thanks

What's the model number? Do you have anything connected via SCART or HDMI?

Whilst there are things connected to the TV, they have always been there.

    It's a Samsung PS-42C7HD

    Thanks

I realize they have always been there, but sometimes things connected via HDMI or SCART can spontaneously begin to cause some issues. So please answer my question.

If you have something connected via SCART or HDMI, disable any of the communication settings (like HDMI-CEC... aka Anynet).

    Many thanks for your suggestions.

    I finally sorted it out!

Switched on the Pace satellite receiver and pressed TV, then switched the Pace receiver off and everything's back as it was before, i.e. when I switch on the Samsung TV it comes on with the previously watched channel.

    Thanks

    Andy
