    It is illegal in the US, thus it is wrong

    Right and Wrong as teachings of culture, directed by legal standings.

    I was assuming it was a philsophical question, and a great one to play with, it was done before on here, ( can't remember when) but of course it was asked under government?

    So since abortion is legal in the USA, abortion is right?

    The USA doesn’t always get it right and wrong with their laws :p

    If it's a philosophical question then I know the answer, but it's one of those answers that most people won't accept - religion always gets in the way.

    If you would take even a half an hour and do some historical background on slaves and slave trading - not just here in the United States but in other countries, you would not need to ask your question. The slave trade has been alive and thriving for centuries.

    Being a slave means you have no rights - no rights. The person(s) who own you decide everything, usually for their behalf, not yours. You can be used to accommodate whatever their particular need is. You can be sold, beaten, starved, deprived of medical care, not allowed to communicate with family (if that is what the owner decides), used for medical experimentation, used a prostitute, used in whatever way your owner decides. You have no right to talk back, no right to your opinion, your right to your religion... Do you get the idea yet?

    So what is wrong with this? You decide. I know what side of that issue I stand on.

    But today is there not a economic slavery, Can the person on welfare living in a section 8 housing, are they free to move ( really) they have no money for a truck to move, no money for a down payment,

    What about our favorite walmart clerk, working part time, no health insurance, barely able to feed their family, living in the trailer park paying weekly rent,

    Even the slaves were fed, clothed, and housed, they would not be homeless since they were valued property in most cases.
    How many have went into prostitution because they can't pay their bills, how many are beaten because of where they live.

    Is this a lot better ?

    It is against the us constitution. As well as it is wrong in the sense of "every man is created equal". Furthermore, slavery is wrong because it is morally incorrect.

    I must say that I'm glad that I'm not a slave and never will be. What those people in our history have gone through because of gluttony or greed or laziness, is ludicrous. What gives man the right to control another man? NOTHING! I get so mad thinking about this topic. I have to say that I would have been a marcher in the million man march, and I would have helped them escape if I was alive back then. We need now to teach love between our races and tolerance and respect. There is still a serious problem in this country, and I think it stemmed from slavery. Why is it that white people are treated better than everyone else? For some reason they are held on a pedestal while all others suffer. It's not fair and it really needs to stop. I think it's far beyond time!!
