    Panasonic TV Intermittent problem
I have a Panasonic Plasma TV Model # TH-46PZ80U. This TV will start and run fine however if you shut it off and try to restart the TV it will not turn on and you get a flashing light. It will flash 10 times a pause and it will flash again. You can attempt to restart this TV with no success. If you unplug the power and let it sit foe 30 seconds then plug it back in and immediately hit the on button the TV may turn on, if not it will flash again and you will need to repeat the process and eventually have success. Any ideas?

10 blink shutdown after you try pressing the button can be one of several different boards (6 different boards actually). You will need to have the TV serviced. If it is under warranty either call Panasonic or the retailer you purchased it from to get someone out to service the unit.

I was looking for a more descriptive answer. This product is only 2.5 years old what a joke. The warrantee has expired; I am not inclined to have a repair person charge big bucks for a card that may only need a couple of caps replaced. I do not have a nearby repair facility and I do have a degree in electrical engineering. I have checked every solder joint in all of the cards in question; they all appear to be fine. The only thing I can see is a slight bulge in 2 of the 220V-900mF caps. I am more than capable of replacing caps or other components if need be.

    Can you help?

Unfortunately without seeing the TV I cannot provide details about which parts would need to be replaced. A 10 blink error after pushing the power button, on that model, can literally be any of 6 boards.

Which board do you see the bulged caps? That model is not known for having defective caps, so I'm assuming another part in the board took out the caps when it failed.

How familiar are you with electronic repair? Do you know how to use a digital multimeter? If so, have you tested for any shorts to ground?

Also, as a side note, Geek Squad (if they are in your area), charges $150 for repair, then whatever parts are. No additional labor is charged. At least that's what we charge in the area I cover (Wisconsin).
