My husband and I have been trying to conceive for 5 years with no success. I have had 4 pregnancies with my ex-husbnad, and 2 live births. I recently began to suspect LUFS (Lutenizing Unruptured Follicle Syndrome) as a possible cause due to daily use of NSAIDS for pain for five years. I discontinued use in mid-November.

I have regular 31 day cycles with ovulation occurring around day 18, with a 13 day luteal phase. My last period came on November 26, 2011. Two weeks later, I experienced usual pre-ovulation symptoms - fertile fluid, ovulation pain, etc. My period never came when I expected it, yet a dozen pregnancy tests over the next 3 weeks were all negative.

60 days into the cycle, I spotted lightly for 3 days, then had a light period for the next 3 days (I normally have heavy periods). After the light flow, the spotting resumed and has remained for two weeks. This evening it became worse, back to a light flow, with dark strings of tissue and clots. Just earlier today I thought I was about to ovulate due to ovulation-type pains on the left side.

Any idea what may be going on? I called my doctor 4 weeks ago but he can't see me until mid-February.
