I believe the law in Canada says once you are 14, it is okay.

The current age of consent in Canada is indeed 14, though they are trying to change it to 16

If you were 21 and he was 25, the four year difference that you are now, I would not have a thing against it, for your maturity would be almost level. But for a 14 year old girl to be dating a 19 year old boy the maturity level is just not on a par. But if you are a level headed girl and you feel like you can handle any situations that come up, I would say enjoy your teen years but remember his teen years are almost over.

I don't think it's "legal".
You must be 18.
Now, should you NOT date him? It's your choice...

As shygrneyzs said, the age of consent is 14 here in Canada, so it is legal for you two to date.
NytCrawlr brought up a point about it possibly changing, but don't worry about that. By then time it does (if it does), you will be 16 or very very close to 16.
letmetellu brings up a good point about your maturity level. Are you mature enough to date a 19 yr old? If you feel you are, then go for it.

[CaptainForest disagrees: Age of sexual consent in Canada is 14, NOT 18. Therefore, it is “legal”.]
Are you sure?
Is this really true?
It's not what I've heard anyway...

Yes, I am 100000000% sure.
Where have you been hearing things from?
According to: Canada's Legal Age of Consent to Sexual Activity (PRB99-3E))
CURRENT LAW
The Criminal Code does not now criminalize consensual sexual activity with or between persons 14 or over, unless it takes place in a relationship of trust or dependency, in which case sexual activity with persons over 14 but under 18 can constitute an offence, notwithstanding their consent. Even consensual activity with those under 14 but over 12 may not be an offence if the accused is under 16 and less than two years older than the complainant. The exception, of course, is anal intercourse, to which unmarried persons under 18 cannot legally consent, although both the Ontario Court of Appeal(3) and the Quebec Court of Appeal(4) have struck down the relevant section of the Criminal Code.
Note that the website above is an official website for the Canadian government.

Yes, we are talking about dating. And dating laws are even less than sexual conduct laws.
Heck, I can start dating a 13 year old, the law doesn't forbid me to. I start kissing/touching/having sex or doing something like that with the 13 year old, then I am in trouble.
If you can have sex at 14, you for sure can date at 14.
Therefore, they CAN date.
Now if the 15 year olds parents want them to stop, that is another issue, not one that was asked though.

Yeah you let a 19 year old come asking to take my 14 year old daughter out on a date. See what me and the wife do to his azz. And his mama and daddy's azz too for that matter. That's my law.

I can completely relate to this situation considering I'm 16 and reeeeally into this 20 year old guy. Unfortunately, those of you who claimed to read the government legal age of consent in Canada, clearly only gave a half-assed attempt -.- . Most of you were correct about the legal age of consent being 14, but the real legal age of consent where you can have sexual relations with anyone older than you is 18.
"...the offence of "sexual exploitation" also makes it an offence for an adult to have any such contact with boys and girls over 14 but under 18, where a relationship of trust or authority exists between the adult and child."
This means that yes, you can legally have sex at the age of 14, but only with persons 14, 15, 16, 17, or 18 years old, which means that in your case having sexual relations with the 19 year old is AGAINST THE LAW. Which unfortunately means the same thing in my situation :(.
Next time, don't chinse on the information and just full out read it, your opinion is useless otherwise. The only useful part to any previous information, was the government website that was given (which could easily be found anyway). If anyone doubts my informations, look it up yourself Canada's Legal Age of Consent to Sexual Activity (PRB99-3E) .

From dating to friends to dating?

Here's my problem. I met this guy about 9 months ago. After only going out a couple of times we started dating. It only lasted for about a month and he ended it saying he didn't think we had enough in common. Since then we have become best friends and spend a lot of time together. But we are...
