    Washer not spinning
I have a Kenmore Elite washer, model 110.20942994. It works fine on every setting (delicate, regular, heavy duty, etc.) but will not spin on any setting. The lid clicks when opened/closed, and opening the machine will halt the draining process, so I'm sure the lid switch is fine. I'm a novice. I don't even know how to get inside the machine to see it's parts, let alone fix them. Some really specific help would be appreciated.

It's possible for the belt that drives the spin mechanism to come off or break. You can probably Google the make and model number to find a copy of the owners manual or repair manual. That should show how to get into the machine. It may be as easy as taking out screws or popping off the front panel with the screwdriver. (You might want to cover the tip of the tool to prevent chipping the finish.)

Belts can usually be ordered from someone like Appliance Parts Co. your local hardware store, or the manufacturer. The website for the owners manual may have a link to parts suppliers.

There was no front panel, but I took off the back panel, and there doesn't appear to be a belt. Any other ideas, anyone?

My repairman husband says there is a thing called a "wigwag" on some models. He often found a loose wire going to it or a bad solenoid. Check that, too.

I have worked on washers and dryers for years. And it is a design 2000 series, it doesn't have a belt. But it is my experience with Kenmore and Whirlpool washers that the lid switch on some models will click but does not make contact in the switch. You have to take the body of the washer off the base to get to it, which is a trick of this is your first time to take this model apart.

I have a question for you since your husband is a repairman.hopefully you can help me out."I have a kenmore elite quiet pak 4 front load washer that makes noises and does not spin when in the washing cycle or when I push rinse and spin or drain and spin. I would like to know what would cause this and how can I fix it so I can wash my clothes properly.

I just bought a "fixer-upper" house and there was a washing machine in there that seemed to work fine the first time I used it. After that, the spin cycle would start to spin, but fizzled out and stopped spinning. The water still drains out, but I am wondering how or what to repair to get it to...
