I have a room covered with Venetian Plaster - the ultra-smooth look. I want to texture the walls so I can repaint with a faux finish. Can I do this over the Venetian Plaster? I've read that you can paint over it after a light sanding and priming, but haven't read anything about adding texture....

I read on-line on a do it yourself page to prime the ceiling first so after scraping the popcorn and patching all the nail dimples and repairing all the little scrape marks so I wiped the surface with a rag and primmed it with Kilz 2 Primmer.
