I am a big fan of Grey's Anatomy and I love Kate Walsh's red hair. My hair is a medium brown and I do have some black spots from when I dyed my hair black over a year ago. Someone told me I would probably have to cut my hair to where the black is, but I do not want to cut it. I also want it to turn out the way Kate Walsh's is. How do I go about doing it? I really just want a dramatic change.

I would suggest taking a picture of how you want your hair to a stylist. Call a salon you like and ask them to have a consultation with the stylist that does red hair the best. Let the stylist tell you what they can achieve for you. I've been to several different colorist and some don't work with red often and some don't know how and think they do.

Don't try to do red color at home because even if it does turn out good the first time, it is hard to do the roots without getting your ends too dark. Trust me, I did it... :p

Hair salons have products that can change your medium brown hair to red in one single coloring process. Just take Kate Walsh's picture with you to a salon and they will achieve her hair color for you.
