Any convicted felon has to wait 7 years then has to be approved by the state to own any type of fire arm... At least that's how it is in Alabama

Incorrect. Under federal law a convicted felon may never possess a firearm. And federal law trumps Alabama law.

The only firearm a felon can possess is a blackpowder gun used for hunting.

So I got a little more information. He was charged with unlawful restraint felony 3 and endangering the welfare of a child I believe that was a felony 3 as well.He served 14 months to 3 years, then he had an M1 for simple assult on me and another charge of operating a boat under a controlled substance and that was an M2. Does this change any of you guy's information you gave me?

A felony conviction is a felony conviction as far as that's concerned. I am not aware that they care what the charge actually was.

Are you trying to help him get a firearm? It seems you should be elated that he cannot own one.

No, it doesn't change our information. A felon is a felon. Doesn't matter what the crime is, just the title "felon" caused him to lose his rights.

The others are right (well, most of them)... Under Federal Law he cannot own any kind of firearm. In fact, not only can he not own them, but he can't even handle them even if they aren't his.
