Craftsman snow thrower 536.881501 grinding noise?

Thanks for your help on the craftsman snow thrower electric start issue grinding noise. Model 536.881501. I called sears and they said the gear part does not come separately so I have to buy the whole starter which is over $200.00. Do you think I would be able to get the gear separately anywhere else or is it the way the snow thrower was built? Thanks for all your help! |

I tried to start my craftsman snow thrower model 536.881501. It was turning over but would not start. Tried several times with electric start. Now when I press the electric start it is making a horrible grinding noise and does nothing. What do I do?

Has a new auger belt. Only throws it about 5 feet. Constantly gets clogged.

Both tires are flat, and it seems that when I fill with 20 psi air, they don't seal on the rims. I don't think there is any kind of hole/leak in the tires themselves.
