What do I need to do to fix this ongoing issue (possible blockage... )
About 2 months ago while running shower there was water coming up through the spa/bathtub and gurgling from toilet. Call a plumber- just over $1000 later and lots of fancy equipment electric eel, camera blah blah blah it seemed to be fixed.. However 2 or 3 days later whilst in the shower I heard the toilet gurgle- called plumber immediately and he said it could happen as there was an "air bubble".
Now about 8 weeks after the initial problem (I have been away for some of that time) that original problem STILL seems to be happening. Toilet gurgles while running shower (as yet nothing from bathtub) and if I flush toilet it fills RIGHT up and takes ages to go down.
I called original plumber and he seems intent on the fact whoever renovated our home 12years ago did a "dodgy" etc etc. I do not need to hear excuses or reasons to blame another persons work (hey we went 12 yrs without any issues) I just need a SOLUTION to whatever the problem is. If the plumbing is truly bad then just say and I'll have the whole bathroom renovated or if it's a simple plunge then we'll do that- please if you could provide a solution rather than an excuse that would be fantastic!

Your plumber's blowing smoke up your skirt. That "air bubble's sewer gas caused by blow back when the drainage hits a partial blockage.
Toilet gurgles while running shower (as yet nothing from bathtub) and if I flush toilet it fills RIGHT up and takes ages to go down.
Thus is important! Does the toilet have any bubbles or doe it sound like air being drawn through the bowl causing a gurgle? Get back with the answer and we'll explore solutions. Back to you, Tom

So the plumber never cleared anything and he left with $1000 and didn't even unblock the drain?
There are air bubbles coming from the toilet... The water is also very low on it so that toilet has not been in use for the past 2 or so days since I noticed the bubbling sound badly!
Thank you Tom for your reply!

$1000.00 to snake a drain? And you still have the same problem. I would have my lawyer send a strong letter of complaint to his company and demand some of your money back. What do you want to do now? I can walk you through the repair if you wish.
You will need to rent a snake and purchase a new wax ring. The toilet will have to come up and the drain snaked from there, Did the plumber pull the toilet? It's not a difficult task but it is messy and dirty. Let me know if you wish to attempt it. Back to you, Tom

Is it a blockage?
Plumber did remove the toilet and used a snake and an electric eel... I have no idea and am more than happy for someone to fix it- but what exactly is someone fixing?

there was water coming up through the spa/bathtub
This tells me that the blockage is downstream from the tub. Perhaps the plumber simply pushed the clog farther on down the line. Does water still back up in the tub while showering? If so perhaps we can go at this from a different location. Let me know about the tub and I'll share my thoughts. Back to you, Tom,

So far nothing is coming up the tub this time. When bathroom sink or shower runs the toilet gurgles. More so shower than sink but has been known to bubble up. Plumber is coming around in 2 days- will it be a simple solution or will it cost mucj more $$$$$

Since you're out a thousand dollars and still have the same problem this should be under warranty at no cost to you. It sure sounds like the plumber hit the clog and pushed it farther down the line. Good uck and keep me informed of developments. Tom

Apparently plumber says he pushed it down to the mains and there was nothing wrong and he keeps going back to the "whoever laid your lines caused the problem" etc and now wants $500 to unblock...

If there is nothing wrong and the issue is how the lines are laid, he can't fix it for 500 to unblock,
If it is just a blockage, he obviously did not clean it out far enough last time.
Is there a outside clean out also ? Going from the house to a main can be a long distance, not just out of the house.
My house would require about 150 ft to go from toiet to the main line of the house, and out to the street.
I know I ended up suing one of the main "rooter" companies some years back, my wife called them when I was out of town and they tried something similar
