    How would my delivery go?
I am 37 weeks and 4 days pregnant with my secondchild I went to my doctors appointment two days ago and I wasn't dialated but my baby's head was far down. What would be the outcome for delivery will they break my water or is it a sign my water would break on it's own?

    Hi breanna91... welcome to AMHD,

While some women will have a bit of dilation occur at the end of pregnancy, most women do not start to dilate until they are in labor.

Your situation is perfectly normal and has no bearing on what your labor and birth may be like.

You are at the stage where it would be fine if you went into labor anytime in the next several weeks. It could be in two days, it could be in 4 weeks for example.

Labor starting with water breaking happens in a small percentage of labors, most often it will break at some point during labor. On occasion your doctor may suggest breaking it, after you have been in labor for awhile, but usually it is not necessary.

Try to enjoy the last bit of time you have in your pregnancy... pamper yourself, spend time with friends, take care of last minute things.
