I´ve just uninstalled a NVIDIA card and am using an onboard video card. After starting the PC for the first time with the onboard card, it appeard to be working properly, but there were some conflicts in the set up. I decided to deactivate the video card in the System/Device Manager, and restart the PC, hoping to see the onboard video card being properly recognized automatically. However, after the Windows XP loading screen, nothing appeard in my screen. Later on, I tried to fix the problem by starting Windows in VGA mode, and in the last set up, but nothing worked and the screen remains black after the Windows loading screen. Does someone know the solution for this problem? I hope I don´t need to reinstall Windows.

Boot into Safe Mode and do a System Restore. Go to Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, System Restore to restore your PC to a previous state and then you can continue working from there.

I have this same situation with this same cause and effect, except that I can't get to Safe Mode or any other option in the F8 mode after startup. I actually get the F8 menu options and I have tried them all, where they beging loading needed drivers and go through the scandisk process if necessary, but as soon as those complete and it's ready to go into windows (right where the login would come up), the video goes blank. I can even hit enter to log in on the blank screen and hear the audio prompts at startup for my audio card, but I never get past the blank screen. This is in XP Pro. I'm about ready to reload windows through DOS, but I'm looking for any last alternatives. Thanks much for your help.
