I got my bellybutton done at 15, I've had it done now a week and its red around the ball and a scab is starting to grow.I did it without my mothers permission and I'm afraid its infected?

Who did the piercing without parental consent?

I would tell your mother and get medical treatment. This is nothing to fool around with.

You can follow whatever precautions you were given BUT I actually worked a case where a piercing went wrong and the girl was in the hospital for a prlonged period with peritonitis.

My sister came with me and they didn't ask consent only a sheet to fill out about their responsibilities and mine.. my mom would freak like. I taught it could only get infected around thebottom of the piercing?

I think she'd rather like freak now than freak in the ER.

Tell her.

Maybe a thousand people get piercings, some infect, some don't, that's the end of it.

That is not my experience - which, by the way, I've posted before.

Id love to tell her but I'm a person who loves to go out with my friends and see my boyfriend often and I'm afraid all that will stop including sports and I've my mocks coming up and I don't really need the stress... I don't even know what to say to her?

What would I say? "Mom, I need to talk to you. I did something really stupid and I'm really sorry and I know you're going to be disappointed in me but I ..."

You don't need the stress? I have to say, as a stepmother, she obviously didn't want you to get the piercing, you and your sister went behind her back, now it's probably infected and dangerous - and you don't need the stress?

Yes, in MY house you'd be grounded. So would your sister. I also wouldn't want to hear about YOUR stress. I would be VERY concerned about some of your other decisions, including your relationship with your boyfriend.

If you're old enough to do whatever you want without parental permission you're old enough to live with the consequences.

Sorry if I'm coming down hard on you - but I work with similar matters all of the time and sometimes I wonder what people are thinking!
