    Jelly-Like substance in my Period
I am a 48 year old woman, who, today, experienced a very painful and heavy period accompanied by a jelly-like substance on two separate occasions. I have had an irregular period - I went five months without a period, then last month had a normal period and now twoday this happens. What is this and should I be concerned?

    Hi mburke17... welcome to AMHD,

It is likely not a concern as your period is made up of more than just blood. Sometimes there will be more noticeable mucus/tissue as the uterine lining sheds. Since your hormones are going through changes it is common to have increases and decreases which can effect how the lining is built.

Certainly if it continues to cause you concern, check with your gyn.

Jelly Fish [ 2 Answers ]

We have been going to the Florida Gulf Cost for 30 years and have notice that jelly fish always seem to be in the waters now, seems to be more of a problem the last 2 years. Is there a reason that they are more abundant now? Is there a summer month that they are less a problem?
