    Knee disability
    I am on social security I have a court date for a doctor bill judgemnt on 18th jan. But I cannot get to the court house because of my knee disability. What can I do? Portland, or

    Do you have a lawyer? Last thing you want to do in small claims is fail to show. You can try to get it continued but that would only buy time. You will eventually need to appear even if you have to use a wheelchair.

    Of course you can appear, you don'[t want to put the effort it may take to do so.

    Cruthes, wheel chair, and so on. Handicap people got to court every day.

    Do you owe the bill? If so, even if you get to the Courthouse, what is your defense?

    If there is going to be a judgment against you anyway (because you have no defense) I don't think it makes a difference if you show up or not.

I will shortly begin collecting private long-term diability insurance to the tune of 60% of my former salary. Can I still apply for social security disability? If I do, would either or both of these be decreased?
