    Printing on home network
I have an HP Officejet J5780 printer connected (via cable) to my HP desktop computer. I also have an HP notebook. OS is WIN7 on both computers.

When I print from the desktop all is well.

If I print from the notebook, files (such as Word documents) print. But when I attempt to print a crossword puzzle from newspapers, they will not print. (They do on the desktop.) No error message, they just don't print. This problem occurs with IE, Firefox, and Chrome. Browser settings the same on both computers.

Any thoughts on what is missing on the laptop?

    Yes.

In my attempt to gain more info it seems I accidentally solved the problem. I connected the printer directly to the notebook to see if it worked that way. It did. After reconnecting to the desktop and retrying to print via the network, it now works. I don't understand, but for some reason that made a difference.

    Thanks for the response.
