    Dec 31 the patent account reflected 30,000, its useful life is 10 years. Then January 2nd paid a legal cost of 10,000 to successfully defend the patent against infringement. January through June developed a new producting incurring 230000 in research and development. A patent was granted on july1 it useful life is equal to its legal life.
